Betty Boop Hits Atlantic City

Bally Gaming has gone "live" with its new Betty Boop
progressive slots at four Atlantic City casinos. On May 12,
83 machines were switched on at Bally's Park Place, Wild
Wild West, Caesars Atlantic City and Atlantic City Hilton.
Promotion for the games included a visit to the casinos by
the New York City Betty Boop Fan Club.

Betty Boop's Big Hit offers a $100,000 initial jackpot that
increases in relationship to the amounts wagered. Betty
Boop machines are already available in Nevada, Mississippi
and various Native American casinos.

POKER
Hone Your Poker Skills
By Max Drayman, http://www.winneronline.com

I love Poker. As as kid I wanted to hang out with the old
man so I asked him to show me how to play cards: he taught
me 5-Card Stud. But as any Poker player will tell you, it
takes a LOT of practice to get good. And since it's money
we're talking about the question becomes "how do I practice
without losing my shirt?"

If you're lucky enough to have a group of like-minded folks
the solution is obvious: play for nickles. But good
Thursday night Poker Clubs are hard to find, and the old
man is now sailing boats in the Caribbean. So what do you
do?

I've trolled around the Internet for a good answer to this
question and the results have been mixed. In my opinion,
Multi-Player games are the way to go, and the Internet has
a few options in this area. Let's take a quick look at
MPlayer, one of the better play-for-free multi-player games
I've tried recently.

BLACKJACK
Myths of the Game
By Ralph "The Silver Fox" Stricker,
http://www.silverfoxbj.com

The world of blackjack is not unlike any other subject when
it comes to myths. Long before I ever learned how to play
correctly I was aware of them. Since that time, I have
heard them from students, players and the general public
whenever I appear on radio talk shows. The serious person
who wants to learn the game must first put any of these
myths out of their mind.

The object is to get to 21, or as close to 21without
exceeding the total of 21. This a misleading statement. The
object is to beat the dealer's hand. Often, the best
strategy is to stand depending on your hand and the
dealer's up-card. Many people lose a hand because they hit
their hands, when according to basic strategy they should
stand.

The 3rd baseman controls the game. The player at 3rd base
has no more control over the game as far as other players
winning as the player in 1st base. Neither has any effect
on whether you win or lose long term. We always notice when
the player in 3rd base takes a card and the dealer makes
the hand. Conversely, we never notice when the player plays
wrong and the dealer busts because of the bad play.

SPORTS
Sportsbetting Site of the Week
By Jerry Florici, Gambling Newsletter

Although there are zillions of sports sites on the Net,
only a handful are essential to the sports bettor. The site
I visit more often than any other is SportsNetwork.com.
Maybe it's not as fancy as ESPN or CNNSI, but it's packed
with the content I need to make the best picks I can.
Scoreboards, schedules, odds, injury reports -- it's all
here, easy to find, and free. I give it the thumbs up.

A Note From the Editor

Just got back from a gambling conference in Montreal and
while there I had the opportunity to play at Casino de
Montreal. It's a fabulous European-style casino just a
short cab ride from downtown Montreal. There are tons of
slot machines (6 floors of them) and all the basic table
games. The only thing missing is craps. I think there's
some archaic law prohibiting dice games in Canada. Anyway,
I made a couple of hundred bucks at the blackjack table but
the place is crowded and it's hard to find a table with a
low minimum. Most tables had $25 or $50 minimums. By the
way, at Casino de Montreal the dealer hits soft 17. Your
