Another $1,000,000 Jackpot at Foxwoods

For the second time in 18 days, a Foxwoods guest has won a jackpot of more than a million dollars on a one-dollar Wheel of Fortune slot machine at the world's largest casino.

Bill Baysden, 64, of Beulaville, North Carolina, came to Foxwoods on Saturday with a group from Raleigh for the Memorial Day weekend. Although Blackjack is his game, he couldn't find a seat at a table on Sunday morning. As he waited in the Grand Pequot Casino, he decided to try his luck at the nearby Wheel of Fortune slot machines.

"I was playing for about an hour," said Baysden, who has been to Foxwoods before. "I couldn't believe it." He hit the $1,060,949 jackpot a little after 11 a.m. on May 28.

SLOTS
Wild X Bonus Slots - 101
By Gayle Mitchell, http://easycasinogambling.com

As if the new types of bonus video slots are not confusing or plentiful enough, I am here to add another category -- Wild Multiplier Bonus Slots.

These slots look like basic slots with three reels, but with plus, plus major bonuses. Wild symbols, (usually in the name of the slot version), are scattered about; multipliers, (2x, 5x, 10x pay+) as an added bonus option; and free spins that result in additional payouts. These versions also offer frequent hits/payouts; often every second spin, unlike basic slots.

You won't find second screen games as with bonus video slots -- Monopoly, Reel 'Em In, Let's Make a Deal, etc, however, video graphics are still present usually in the top-box screen of the slot.

BLACKJACK
Blackjack.com Now Online
By Jerry Florici, Gambling Newsletter

Blackjack.com is now officially open for play. The site offers seven different versions of the popular game, including Las Vegas and European versions, each with different dealing options. Another unique feature is that players have an opportunity to place side bets, namely a Super 7 side bet for a dollar.

In order to keep their site more desirable than other Internet gaming sites, Blackjack.com is the only "flash-based" Internet casino, so users do not have to download the game to play. The site features rich graphics and enhanced sounds, along with fast play action that simulates casino play.

"Blackjack.com is where the winners are. It represents the new breed of Internet gaming -- fast, exciting, with outstanding graphics and sound," said Baron Menzel, President of Paramount Trading, Inc., the parent company of Blackjack.com.

VEGAS
San Francisco in Las Vegas?
By Melanie Banks, Gambling Newsletter

Businessman Phil Ruffin plans to build a $700 million, 2,500-room hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip with a San Francisco theme on the 25-acre site of the New Frontier Hotel which he purchased in 1998. Ruffin plans to implode the New Frontier hotel and begin construction on The City by the Bay resort by late 2000.

The new resort will re-create San Francisco's Chinatown, the Coit Tower and Lombard Street, and feature a Napa Valley winery and an Alcatraz restaurant. Passage ways depicting the Oakland Bridge and the San Francisco Bridge will wind around the property, including a link to the neighboring Fashion Show Mall.

The City by the Bay resort is scheduled to open September 2002.

By Chuck Greene, http://www.winneronline.com

WINNERonline's Chuck Greene gets the inside story on Pitboss Casino from Chris Ford, Director of Operations.

CHUCK - It looks like you'll be adding new games to your casino soon. Any details?

CHRIS - Yes, we will have Pai Gow as a multiplayer game as well as Spanish Poker and a new game for slots and lottery lovers called Pull Tabs. Our software provider has also promised us many multiplayer versions in the short term.

CHUCK - What's the deal with the "Circuit Gilles Villeneuve" travel promotion?

CHRIS - Well, we are the Underdogs. We fit the name, The Pitboss. He's the guy who makes sure you are well treated and happy. And our only mandate is to make players out there see and feel this. We officially launched April 1st and immediately we wanted our members to feel at home, so we had a giveaway for two 3 day passes to the Montreal GrandPrix, hotel and travel included. The Pitboss is like you and I, not a large corporate nightmare, and the Pitboss happens to be a race lover who will greet the lucky winners in person. In a nutshell, we are of the people.

SPORTS
Pacers Lack Sense of Urgency in NBA East Finals
By Tim Hastings, http://www.TurfnSport.com

The Indiana Pacers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in their best of seven Eastern Conference Final series against the New York Knicks. At that point, they looked to be in command of the series headed back to New York for games three and four.

The Knicks were reeling and faced game three with the prospect of playing without center Patrick Ewing, who was held out of the game with tendinitis in his foot. To make matters worse for the Knicks, they lost forward Marcus Camby after only five minutes action to a knee injury which further depleted their front court depth. All of these events should have had the Pacers smelling blood! Inexplicably, their play was lackluster and really showed very little desire or sense of urgency!

HORSES
Red Bullet Can Change Triple Crown Landscape
By Michael Dempsey, http://www.TurfnSport.com

Red Bullet trainer Joe Orseno announced on Saturday that the Preakness winner would not be racing in the third leg of the Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes. The defection ends any hope fans had of seeing a rematch with Kentucky Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus, at least until late summer or fall.

Orseno stated that Stronach wants to race the colt as a four year old, "We don't want to squeeze the lemon dry", Orseno said.

The thinking in the Red Bullet camp is, why bring the talented colt back in three weeks when there are plenty of spots with big purses awaiting this summer and fall? The $1 million Haskell in August 8 and the $1 million Travers is August 26 are on the horizon. The ultimate goal is the even richer Breeders' Cup Classic.
